Timisoara in Western Transylvania is the location for a screening of Cassidy's short films next month. Cassidy is attending a festival there where he will deliver a workshop in short film making.

Cassidy completes rough edit on Johnny Murphy's debut short film 'The Stand Up'. The film was funded through the online 'Fund It' web platform.

The film script for Cassidy's feature "Pins and Needles" has been put on the back burner as the film maker commences work on a novel version of the story first.

FILM COMPETITION

Having written a digital short film making curriculum for the Digital Latin Quarter transnational project, Cassidy is spearheading a film making competition aimed at focussing on the mental health of Europe's young people.

The project, with partners in Ireland, Greece, Lithuania, Poland and Portugal, is funded by the European Union. Young people must make a film on one of five mental health related themes.

FEATURED WORK

The Bouquet was a film made when actress Nadine Rahimtoola visited Cassidy from Berlin to talk about a part in a feature that was under development at the time. He was checking out the Canon 60D at the time and, on the spur of the moment, asked Nadine if she'd be interesting in shooting a short. The film was made in an afternoon with sound engineer Simon Murphy stepping in as the lead male. The film was well received on the international festival circuit.
